In 2024, Russia's durum wheat harvest saw a significant increase, reaching a record 2.4 million tons compared to 700 thousand tons in 2023, covering 1.4 million hectares of land. The Volga Federal District and the Orenburg Region dominated in production, contributing 45% and 27% of the total, respectively. Despite a decrease in exports compared to the previous year, durum wheat was sent to 11 countries, with new markets emerging in North Africa and renewed interest from Turkey. The Federal Center for Assessment of Safety and Quality of Agricultural Products (CACAP) highlights the potential for further growth in durum wheat exports to various countries, particularly Algeria and Tunisia.
