The Dutch Development Cooperation Service (SNV) has commissioned a group of Nicaraguan farmers, numbering over 6,000, to see a significant increase in coffee and cocoa production over the past seven years. This achievement is credited to the adoption of sustainable and advanced agricultural practices, including agroforestry systems, post-harvest infrastructure, and the implementation of wet mills. As a result, coffee yields have risen by 55%, and cocoa yields have surged by 96%. These changes have not only improved production efficiencies but also boosted farmers' income and sales. The project, titled 'Access to Sustainable Markets and Food Security for Coffee and Cacao Producers of Nicaragua (PROMESSA-CAFCA)', has been instrumental in enhancing business skills and market access for these farmers, with a total investment of 10 million euros.
