Per capita coffee consumption in Spain continues its upward trend and in 2024 grew by 3.7%, reaching 67 million daily cups, which equates to 562 cups per inhabitant per year or 1.5 per day; all this despite the fact that its selling price increased by 7.2% over this period. The Spanish Coffee Association (AEC), on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of this product on October 1, has updated the sector data, which confirm, according to this organization, "the social, economic, and cultural relevance of this beverage in our country." The AEC's sector report shows that out of every hundred cups consumed, 66 are taken at home and 34 in bars and cafes; the biggest consumers are retirees - 27.69% of the total volume - and the least, independent young people (3.37%).
