In June 2024, the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador (AEBE) reported a slight decrease of 1.04% in accumulated banana exports, totaling 188.99 million boxes compared to the previous year. The primary ports of departure were Guayaquil, Posorja, and Puerto Bolívar. The European Union remained the largest destination for these exports, while Russia experienced a notable reduction in imports. The UK and the Middle East also saw declines, whereas Africa and the US increased their banana imports. The majority of the exports were type 22XU boxes, followed by type 208 and Organic bananas.
