Ecuador experienced a decrease in banana exports by 0.85% from January to November of the same year compared to the previous year, according to the Banana Marketing and Export Association (Acorbanec). The decline was observed in several markets including Russia, the Middle East, East Asia, the UK, Oceania, the EFTA, and Canada. The cause of the decline is attributed to a lack of containers and cargo space, aggravated by port congestion, particularly in China, which has led to a shift in shipping routes and a container shortage.
