In August 2023, Ecuador exported 250.13 million boxes of bananas, compared to 234.42 million boxes in 2022, representing a 6.70% increase. The European Union accounted for 29.94% of global banana exports in 2023, followed by Russia at 21.27%. Eastern Europe, EFTA Europe, and the Middle East saw reductions in the import of Ecuadorian bananas, while the United Kingdom increased its purchases. The Netherlands and Germany were the top destinations within the European Union, and Turkey was the largest market in the Middle East. Algeria was the main export destination in Africa, with a growth rate of 59.42%.
