Ise Foods Holdings, the largest Japanese egg producer, will invest over $100 million to build an egg farm in Singapore, with production expected to reach 360 million eggs and five million chicks annually by 2026. This investment aims to increase Singapore's egg self-sufficiency, as current local production covers only 28% of the country's demand, leading to heavy reliance on imports. The Singapore Food Agency is working to boost local market development to support the government's food security objectives, which include producing 30% of food locally by 2030. The plan follows a significant decrease in Ukraine's egg production, primarily due to issues with major producer Avangardco, leading to a 14.4% drop in total egg production from January to July 2021 compared to the previous year.
