In the first two months of 2021, Brazil saw a significant surge in egg exports, with a total of 3,177 thousand tons, marking a 150.6% increase compared to the same period in 2020. This surge also brought about a 152.8% increase in revenue, amounting to US $ 4.128 million. February alone saw exports of 1,552 thousand tons, a 247.9% increase from February 2020, with revenue reaching US $ 2.099 million, a 172.8% increase year-on-year. The United Arab Emirates emerged as the primary destination for Brazilian egg exports, importing 2,356 thousand tons, followed by Sierra Leone with 103 tons and Japan with 89.2 tons. Ricardo Santin, president of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), highlighted the importance of this growth in foreign exchange earnings for the egg sector, which has been facing high production costs.
