Egypt is the leading supplier of oranges from the northern hemisphere to Southeast Asia, with exports of nearly 25,000 tons in the first five months of this season, a record high for the past five years. The country competes with South Africa, China, Australia, and the US, who together supply 96% of the oranges imported in Southeast Asia. However, Egypt's competitors in the premium markets are limited as most suppliers from China are focused on the Vietnamese market. Imports from the US, a significant competitor, have recently declined, while Egypt's exports have increased.
