Egypt's Minister of Planning, Hala Al-Saeed, has unveiled a strategy to boost the country's agricultural sector by fiscal year 2024-2025. The plan includes a significant expansion in wheat cultivation from the current 3.2 million acres to 3.5 million acres. Additionally, the country aims to cultivate 2.8 million acres of corn and 220,000 acres of fava beans. The government also intends to increase the storage capacity of grain silos from 3.9 million tons to 5.2 million tons. This initiative is designed to reduce the food gap, decrease reliance on agricultural imports, and improve food self-sufficiency.
