The 2022 Egyptian Citrus Annual Report by the United States Department of Agriculture forecasts a significant increase in Egyptian orange exports for the 2022/23 season, reaching 1.7 million tons from 1.3 million tons in the previous season. This surge is attributed to favorable weather conditions and an expansion in citrus planting areas. The top export destinations are expected to remain the same, including Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands. Despite a dip in exports to some countries due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the overall export volume is anticipated to rise by 30.7% as consumer demand and global prices increase. Egypt remains the leading orange exporter, with exports to 104 countries, including China, where export volumes have fluctuated due to competition and the impact of the new crown epidemic.
