Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant surge in the demand for vitamin C, leading to a sharp increase in the export of oranges from Egypt. The farmers in the Beheira region are currently in the harvest season, and the government has ensured that the planting and harvesting are not affected despite the curfew and blockades. The quality and competitive pricing of Egyptian oranges have made it a favorite among consumers, with 85% of its citrus fruit exports being sent to Europe. Egypt is projected to export over 1.7 million tons of oranges in 2020, a figure that represents a substantial increase from previous years.
