"Fertilizers are extremely necessary for the energy and food security of Brazil and the world, and Rio de Janeiro has all the conditions due to the convergence of strategic raw materials, cutting-edge logistics, and intellectual capital," said Teixeira during the event. According to him, Brazil imports between 85% and 90% of all the fertilizer it needs, and the goal is to reduce this dependency to 50% by 2050.
