The article highlights the efforts of Ahmed Joe Hara, the chairman of the Indonesian Sweet Potato Farmers Agribusiness Association (Asapuji), to boost sweet potato production to enhance farmers' income and provide an alternative food source to rice. Since its inception in 2020, Asapuji has gained support from the government and has attracted 80 members from various regions. The association plans to export sweet potato products, including fresh sweet potatoes, starch, and pasta, to countries like Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. These products can be processed into various food items, and Asapuji is seeking government assistance in sweet potato starch paste and machine technology. Sweet potatoes are particularly suited for dry land areas in Cianjur and Sukabumi, Java, and can fetch good prices in the export market.
