In relation to wild boars, we have several certainties and one enormous doubt. We know that the presence of the wild boar (Sus scrofa) in Argentina is a consummate fact since its introduction in 1906. Today, the species is dispersed in 16 of the 24 jurisdictions (almost 70% of the territory) and has been officially classified as an Invasive Exotic Species since the mid-20th century in various provinces. Its impacts are systemic: it generates economic losses estimated between US$907 million and US$1.380 million annually, compromises public health (zoonoses such as trichinosis or brucellosis), devastates crops, and preys on native fauna.
