Enfen maintains "Not Active" alert due to possible presence of El Niño or La Niña

The Multisectoral Commission of the National Study of the El Niño Phenomenon (Enfen) reported that, according to the analysis of current oceanic and atmospheric conditions and the forecasts of national and international climate models, the State of the Alert System for Coastal El Niño/La Niña is maintained as "Not Active" for the Niño 1+2 region, which comprises the northern and central coast of Peru. For this summer (December 2025 – March 2026), the neutral condition (60%) is expected to predominate over the warm condition (30%). Likewise, it is more likely that the neutral condition will change to a "weak warm" condition starting from April 2026, persisting at least until July 2026. For the November 2025 – January 2026 period, below-normal precipitation is expected on the northern coast.
