The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) announced the start of a new phase of preventive intervention for cleaning and desilting in the Rímac River basin, in the Lima region. This stage includes the attention of 26 new critical points and the removal of sediments over 40.51 kilometers. The work will be carried out progressively until April 2026. The intervention will directly benefit more than 57,000 inhabitants of Santa Eulalia, Chaclacayo, Lurigancho–Chosica, San Juan de Lurigancho, El Agustino, Ricardo Palma, San Bartolomé, Matucana, and San Mateo de Otao, localities that face risks of overflows and floods every rainy season.
