The EU significantly imports less rapeseed

As current data from the EU Commission shows, the quantity in question was only around 3.60 million tonnes in the period from July 1, 2023 to February 25, 2024, after 5.40 million tonnes in the same period last year. Brussels officials recently estimated total imports for 2023/24 at 5.61 million tons; that would be 1.23 million tons or 18% less than in the previous year. The most important supplier country so far in the marketing year has continued to be Ukraine with 2.41 million tons of rapeseed, which, however, corresponded to a decrease of almost 330,000 tons or 12% compared to the same period last year. The second most important source of supply was once again Australia with 767,000 tonnes, which, however, meant a reduction of 1.41 million tonnes or 64.6%.
