EU peach and nectarine production is estimated at 3.6 million tonnes, while cherry production is estimated at 657,435 tonnes for the 2023/24 season. Poor growing conditions in key Member States are causing a decline in cherry yields, while peaches and nectarines are seeing better yields in Spain offsetting poor performance in Italy. Stone fruit consumption in the EU is being affected by high inflation resulting from the war in Ukraine, and EU regulations and labor shortages are raising concerns for stone fruit growers.
