EU pork production saw a marginal increase of 0.3% in the first quarter of 2024, with Poland and Germany contributing the most. However, this was offset by significant drops in Spain and Denmark. As a result, total pork exports have decreased by 6%, with a notable decline in exports to China and Japan. Meanwhile, EU pork imports have also decreased by 1800 tonnes, with the UK and Switzerland seeing a decrease in imports. The situation is further complicated by African Swine Fever outbreaks in Germany.
