EU predicts reduction in tomato production in winter

According to EastFruit, by 2035, the production of fresh tomatoes in the EU in winter is expected to decrease with a shift to smaller varieties. However, consumption of this product will remain stable due to the growing demand for smaller varieties, in particular for snack tomatoes. On average, annual consumption of tomatoes is expected to be 15.2 kg per person, according to the European Commission’s “EU Agricultural Outlook 2024-2035”.
