European farmers are planting more beet, leading to an increase in the bloc's sugar output. Initial estimates predict that Germany will become the EU's largest sugar producer since the 2020/21 season, with an output of 4.58 million tonnes, marking a 6.5% increase from the previous season. France's output is also expected to rise by 2.8% to 4.49 million tonnes. The European Commission (EC) anticipates EU sugar exports to rise to 4.3 million tonnes in the 2024/25 season, while imports are projected to decrease to 2.1 million tonnes from 2.1.2 million tonnes in the 2023/24 season. The higher supplies are expected to result in EU ending sugar stocks being raised to 1.9 million tonnes by the end of the 2024/25 season.
