The article highlights the positive impact of the weather conditions in the EU on the sowing of winter cereals, such as soft wheat, durum, barley, and rye, in several countries including the Benelux, France, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and Croatia. The favorable weather conditions since mid-October allowed for the completion of field work in good time. However, heavy rainfall in early October in eastern Bohemia and Slovakia delayed the sowing of winter crops and created poor development conditions. Despite the improved weather conditions in most of Europe, it has negatively affected the sowing of rapeseed seeds in key EU producing countries, potentially reducing the area under oilseed crops to a five-year low.
