The European coffee consumption will reach 53.7 million bags in 2023-2024

For the period from October 2023 to September 2024, it is estimated that coffee consumption in Europe will reach approximately 53.7 million 60kg bags, which will correspond to around 30% of global demand. This volume represents an increase of 2.2% compared to the previous period, reflecting a continued growth in European appetite for the drink. Global coffee production for the same period is projected at around 178 million bags, a significant increase of 5.8% compared to the previous harvest. Of these, 102.2 million bags are of Coffea arabica, which represents 58% of world production, while 75.8 million bags are of Coffea canephora (robusta+conilon), corresponding to 42% of the total.
