The European Commission has approved the import of four genetically modified (GM) varieties of corn and cotton for food and animal feed. The authorisations will be valid for 10 years and have been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The decision was based on a comprehensive authorisation procedure, including a favourable scientific evaluation by the European Food Safety Authority. The import and processing of these GM products will be subject to the EU's strict labelling and traceability rules.
