In July, the average milk price in Europe increased by 8% compared to the same period last year, with the highest increases seen among suppliers to Swiss Emmi, Irish Dairygold, and Irish Tirlan. Despite this, milk production in the European Union slightly increased by 1% in the first half of 2024, with the notable exception of the Netherlands, where it decreased by 3% due to the phasing out of derogation and bluetongue in cattle. Globally, dairy exporting countries are experiencing a decline in milk production, with the exception of Australia, and the market is being stimulated by demand for cream.
