The European Commission has forecasted a sunflower seed production of 29 million tons in 2020, a decrease from the multi-year average, with a 2 percent expansion in the sunflower area leading to a 6 percent rise in yields compared to the previous year. This is expected to result in a record harvest, increasing by 8 percent from 2019. Despite favorable sowing conditions, rapeseed, the EU's largest oilseed crop, is predicted to have a similar harvest to 2019 with a slightly larger area but lower yields per hectare. Soybean production is anticipated to remain steady at around 2.7 million tons.
