The third forecast for the 2023 EU-27 + UK cereal harvest by COCERAL estimates a total yield of 296.7 Mt, a decrease from the previous forecast of 303.5 Mt due to ongoing drought in the region's northern half. The drought has significantly reduced crop expectations in Sweden, Denmark, and the Baltic countries, with Germany and Spain also experiencing downward revisions in production. The forecasted harvest includes 142.4 Mt of soft wheat, 56.6 Mt of barley, and 61.3 Mt of corn, with Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Italy expected to have larger harvests due to previous drought conditions. The rapeseed crop is estimated to be 21.0 Mt, slightly above the previous forecast and last year's yield, despite expectations of slightly lower yields due to increased plantings.
