In a recent analysis of meat prices across the EU, pork emerged as the leader with a 5.7% price increase compared to February 2023, surpassing other meats like lamb, goat, beef, and veal, while poultry prices saw a 1.6% decrease. The period from April 2022 to March 2023 marked the highest annual inflation rate for meat in the past three years, with a peak of 17.3% in February 2023. Beef, veal, lamb, and goat experienced less than a 15% annual increase during this time, in contrast to the significant fluctuations seen in poultry and pork prices, which reached highs of 24.4% and 18.8% respectively. As of February 2024, most EU countries reported a year-on-year rise in meat prices, with Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia witnessing the most substantial increases, whereas the Czech Republic, Finland, and Denmark saw declines.
