Ukraine has seen a 30% increase in palm oil imports, reaching 250 million tons annually, despite a decline in exports. The country's consumption results in every citizen having at least 6 kg of palm oil yearly. The main consumers are confectionery and food concentrate producers like AVK CONFECTIONERS, Roshen, and Interstarch Ukraine. The increase in palm oil use contrasts with efforts to reduce trans fats in food, with many European countries limiting trans fats to 2% of the product, while some Ukrainian products contain up to 20%. A bill banning the use of palm oil in food has recently been registered in Ukraine.
