A new bill has been approved in Peru to boost the consumption of fish and shellfish, with the aim of reducing nutritional deficiencies and promoting healthy eating. The plan includes allocating at least 10% of the food budget to purchase these products from artisanal fishermen and small aquaculture producers, benefiting over 17,000 individuals by 2022. This initiative aims to close the gap between Peru's current fish consumption of 17.3 kilos per person and the global average of 20.5 kilograms.
