The National Fisheries Health Organization (Sanipes) of Peru has identified 10 production areas for non-pectinid bivalve mollusks that meet European Union (EU) standards, in an effort to expand bivalve mollusk exports to the EU. These areas, including El Ancla Chucchio, La Pampa, Puerto Rico, and others, have undergone evaluation since July with the final submissions due in September. Sanipes has also notified the EU of Peru's modification of Supreme Decree 007-2024-PRODUCE and the completion of training for auditors on EU regulations. Peru has been exporting fan shells to the EU for over 25 years.
