The international analytical agency Expana has raised its forecast for grain production in the European Union for the 2025/26 season, reports Reuters, as cited by Global Banking and Finance Review. The forecast for the soft wheat harvest in the EU has been increased by 300,000 tons, compared to data from a month ago, to 136.4 million tons. This is 22.8 million tons above the result of the unfavorable 2024/25 season for European agriculture, when the wheat harvest was affected by heavy rains. The forecast for barley production has also been revised upwards from 56.2 million tons to 56.4 million tons, which is a 6.2 million ton increase compared to last year's production and is the highest figure in 17 years. With 800,000 tons to 56.5 million tons, Expana has also improved the forecast for corn production in the EU. Experts note that the yield exceeded preliminary expectations, but still remains 2.5 million tons below the previous season and is the second lowest harvest since 2007. ...
