The World Processing Tomato Council (WPTC) predicts a global increase in tomato production for processing, expecting it to exceed 46 million tons this year, up from 44.4 million tons last year. However, Italy's production forecast has decreased to 2.5-2.55 million tons due to adverse weather, while Portugal's remains steady at 1.5 million tons, and Spain's has risen to 2.9 million tons. Tunisia is expected to produce 947,000 tons, and Ukraine's forecast has been reduced to 550,000 tons, with 312,000 tons already processed. Notably, the dry matter content of fresh tomatoes is higher than usual, averaging 5.3 brix.
