Over the past decade, Europe has seen a rise in the consumption of peas, chickpeas, and other legumes, largely due to migration. Ukraine has been a significant supplier of rye, which is re-exported by Poland to other European countries. However, the export of buckwheat from Ukraine to the EU remains low. The market for millet in Europe is currently around 500,000 tons, with Ukraine being the largest exporter. The majority of this, 60%, is sent to European markets, with a small portion finding its way to South Asia and South Africa. The expert anticipates further growth in the import of these legumes, including buckwheat, due to increased migration.
