The Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is revising regulations to reduce fees and exempt certain costs in relation to the import and export of livestock and carcasses, including crickets, to boost export competitiveness and support farmers. The revisions, which include slashing license fees for bringing specific animals out of the country and waiving carcass transport fees by air under specific conditions, aim to bolster Thailand's livestock export sector and position the nation as a global hub for cricket production. This strategy dovetails with the United Nations' promotion of insect consumption as a sustainable source of protein. Thailand is experiencing significant growth in its cricket export market, especially in the US, EU, Japan, and China, with ambitions to penetrate more markets by adhering to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and exploring the potential of cricket products in the European Union and Mexico.
