In June, Vietnam emerged as the largest exporter of anise, shipping out 1,548 tons with a value of 6.7 million USD, despite a slight decrease from the previous month. The first half of the year saw Vietnam export a total of 7,023 tons of star anise, generating 34.2 million USD, marking a decrease from the same period in 2023. India remains the primary consumer, accounting for 63% of the total imports. With the global anise production industry expected to grow from 21.3 billion USD in 2021 to 27.4 billion USD in 2026, Vietnam's anise cultivation, mainly in Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces, is poised for significance. Anise, known for its culinary and therapeutic uses, is a rare and valuable crop due to its long cultivation cycle, with harvesting possible from the fourth year and the ability to yield two crops per year after 16 years.
