Exports of fresh Peruvian oranges increase significantly

So far in 2023, Peru's fresh orange exports have seen outstanding performance, reaching 16,445 tons worth $8 million through October. This represents a notable increase of 70% in volume and 94% in value. FreshFruit attributes this increase to the growing demand from the Netherlands, the main destination market, which acquired 10,147 tons for $4 million, marking a growth of 73% in volume and 108% in value. Erik-Jan Thur, owner of the Dutch company Marni Fruit, noted that low temperatures in the Netherlands are stimulating demand for citrus fruits, especially oranges and tangerines. On the other hand, Spain, one of the main exporters of fresh oranges, faces challenges due to climate problems.
