The State Plant Health and Seed Inspection Service in Poland issued 59,470 phytosanitary certificates for plant-origin goods exported to non-EU countries in 2019, marking a 33% increase from 2018. These certificates are essential to confirm that the exported goods do not carry harmful organisms, meeting the requirements of the importing countries. The majority of the shipments controlled by PIORiN were fresh fruit, especially apples, with over 37,000 phytosanitary certificates issued. Apart from fresh fruit, other plant-derived goods such as cereals, potato flour, and propagating material of fruit and ornamental plants were also included in the exports.
