The June Agricultural Bulletin by Epagri/Cepa reports a decrease in the prices paid to producers in Santa Catarina for crops such as black beans and paddy rice, due to well-adjusted supply meeting demand and a slightly abundant national harvest. Despite a expected 9% decrease in total planted area and a 22% increase in productivity, black bean producers are affected by lower prices. Wheat producers are also facing challenges with devaluation and fear of El Niño effects, leading to a predicted 2% reduction in planted area. Banana production in the first five months of 2023 accounted for 9.0% of the total sold in national supply centers, with a traded value of R$65.9 million, marking a 43.7% increase compared to the same period.
