The United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) forecasts a 4% rise in global pineapple exports in 2023, primarily due to increased production in Costa Rica, the world's leading exporter. This growth is expected despite a decrease in plantation area, thanks to favorable weather conditions leading to higher yields. The majority of these exports are set to reach the United States and the European Union. However, the National Chamber of Pineapple Producers (Canapep) predicts a slight drop in top quality pineapple exports due to climate-related impacts on yields.
