The Philippine Statistics Authority reported a 1.7% decrease in agricultural output in 2021, a larger decline than the 1.2% contraction in the previous year. This was largely due to a 17% drop in livestock production, especially hogs, because of the African Swine Fever outbreak. Despite this, crop production grew by 2.3%, and fisheries output barely increased by 0.1%. The farm sector saw a 0.6% growth in the fourth quarter, breaking a three-quarter decline. The value of production in agriculture and fisheries reached P560.39 billion.
