Summer sowing area for farmers has seen a 25% increase, reaching 11.18 lakh hectares, with a notable rise in the cultivation of sesame and groundnut. Sesame planting has more than doubled from the previous year, occupying the second largest cultivated area after pearl millet, while groundnut sowing has also grown by 23%. Other oilseed crops are also under cultivation, and the government is imposing stock limits on pulses to control prices.
