The article reports a significant increase in the cultivation of niche crops in the Nikolaev region of Ukraine, with a 46% rise in the past year covering an area of 64.5 hectares in 2024. These crops, including coriander, are preferred due to their lower sowing costs compared to grain crops, with coriander costing up to 15 thousand hryvnia per hectare compared to grain's over 20 thousand hryvnia. The head of a local agricultural enterprise, Vadim Belik, highlighted the crop's financial benefits, its resilience to heat, and the lower logistics costs. Additionally, the article emphasizes the ease of processing and less demanding growth conditions of niche crops, with coriander being exported mainly to Bulgaria.
