This season, farmers of raw peas in Lindi region have earned a total of Sh32.8 billion, according to Lindi Regional Head, Zainab Terack. Previously, the farmers used to sell raw peas for Sh2000 per kilo, but after implementing the receipt system in the barn, the price increased to Sh2005 per kilo. In addition to peas, sesame and cashew crops also earned significant amounts of money for farmers in the region, with Sh98 billion for sesame and Sh106 billion for cashews last season. The region is now focusing on producing more of these crops as they have become a profitable business.
