The UE-APSAN-Mali project in Mali has seen farmers successfully grow climate-resilient crops of sorghum, pearl millet, groundnut, and cowpea, with some varieties showing superior performance. These improved varieties and hybrids, some of which are drought-resistant, were demonstrated to other farmers, seed producers, and local officials, with farmers expressing interest in expanding production in the next season. The project, aimed at achieving food and nutritional security, has also involved seed production and contracts for the harvest, with the farmers' union reporting it to be a profitable business. The visits, which included COVID-19 sensitization, marked a significant step in identifying and promoting productive, nutritious, and high-yielding varieties.
