The prices of tomatoes and potatoes in Egypt have dropped by over 50% due to an increased supply and decreased demand, coupled with higher productivity due to a moderate climate and advanced variety cultivation. This comes as the winter crop for both vegetables begins, covering 45% and 60% of Egypt's tomato and potato cultivation areas, respectively. Egypt's winter potato crop production is estimated at over 7 million tons, while its tomato production reaches about 6 million tons annually, ranking the country 12th and 6th globally in potato and tomato production, respectively.
