On May 19, 2024, the prices of feed and raw materials for various types of livestock and fish feed fluctuated, largely due to the cost of imported yellow corn and the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and global fuel prices. The cost of broiler feed for fattening ranged from 22,200 to 22,300 pounds, while laying poultry feed varied from 16,200 to 18,500 pounds. Other feed prices, such as livestock feed, duck feed, rabbit and sheep feed, pigeon feed, quail feed, turkey feed, fish feed, and camel and horse feed, also experienced price fluctuations. The price of soybean meal, corn, and corn meal increased on the global stock market, leading to changes in the prices of poultry feed, which can differ based on quality and protein percentage. Dr. Abdel Aziz Al-Sayed, Head of the Poultry Wealth Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, noted the fluctuation in prices was influenced by factors such as the commodity exchange listing of imported corn, the liberalization of the dollar exchange rate, and the speed of releases.
