The EU's sugar imports for the 2021/2022 economic year were 1435 thousand tons, with a decrease of 19% in imports under duty-free agreements. Approximately 91% of the EU's preferential tariff quota for sugar was used by Central America. The EU's sugar exports for the same period were 790,000 tons, a 3% increase, with the United Kingdom being the main recipient.
