The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation in Peru, along with Agromercado and the Swiss Import Promotion Program, have launched a guide to help local coffee and cocoa producers navigate the Swiss market. This initiative is aimed at capitalizing on the Free Trade Agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. The guide outlines the necessary steps to meet the quality, sustainability, and traceability standards required by the Swiss market, emphasizing the importance of international certifications and regulations on residues and pesticides. Peru, a significant producer of both crops, stands to benefit from Switzerland's demand for green coffee and cocoa beans as the largest importer among EFTA countries.
